
Kohima, August 19 (MExN): In light of an incident where an elderly woman was electrocuted in Kohima, a citizen has urged the department concerned to be “more serious and aware of such unchecked installation of appliances and equipments which endangers the innocent lives of the general public.”
A press release from Cipakhuyi Rhakho, a resident of Kohima, who claim ed to have witnessed the incident late, informed that the victim was electrocuted near a transformer on August 15 around 8:10 am in Kohima. She is in an ICU at Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima (NHAK) and her condition is stated to be critical, it said.
The release alleged that the transformer, near which the incident occurred, installed opposite SKV Enterprise was “close by a pedestrian footpath.”
It further recounted that that the victim was on her way to PHQ side from town area. While plucking some leaves near the mini transformer, she was reportedly electrocuted.
The press release also alleged that the incident was witnessed by the police patrolling party at the initial time, but none came up for rescue. A man crossing the vicinity rescued her and later alarmed nearby residents and passerby and took her to the NHAK, it added.
No FIR or any complaint was lodged by the victim’s family, the note informed. It further urged the police and the concerned department to “carry out a thorough investigation in order to avoid such unexpected danger occurring in the near future.”
