Power minister inaugurates compact sub-station at Naga Bazar

Kohima, June 14 (DIPR): The 5 MVA, 33/11 KV compact substation at Naga Bazar, Kohima was inaugurated on June 14 by C. Kipili Sangtam, Minster for Power.  

The Minister maintained that Power department in Nagaland is the most efficient and hardworking department. With new technology, he said, Power department is advancing in helping people in every corner. Stating that without the power sector, today’s generation can do nothing, he encouraged the department officers to work sincerely to promote the departmental activities as well as the State government. The Minister further stressed that people of Nagaland should know the importance of power and switch off lights when not in use. He also appealed to the citizens of Nagaland to cooperate with the Power Department to stabilize power consumption in the State.  

Kipili further said he will uphold the welfare of the department and try to keep things in proper channel while discharging their duties. He also expressed gratitude to the land owner for donating the land for construction of the substation. The Minister advised the department officers to cordially work with the land donor and encouraged the Department to create more system of improvement in the department.  

Earlier, Er. Rokongutuo Suohu, EE (E) Kohima presented the technical report and said that the construction of the compact substation was done under North East Council (NEC) with a cost of Rs. 3.77 crore. He pointed out that the construction work was supposed to be completed within 18 months but due to heavy rain and landslide in the area, the work was delayed.
