Power outrage in Coco area for months

Zunheboto, September 11 (MExN): The people of four villages in Coco area under Atoizu range have been reeling under complete darkness since June 13, according to a press release. The transformer in the area has been replaced twice but was damaged without lasting even 2 hours, stated the release issued by Coco Area Joint Council and Coco Area Students’ Union.

Citing the reason for the damage, the organizations said that the tranformer was installed by “lineman” and “jugali” who do not have proper technical knowledge. No technical officers were present during the installation, they added.   The press release further expressed concern that the power outrage is hampering students' studies/exams at the same time affecting economy since prices of candle and kerosene have shot up and not all villagers can afford such skyrocketing prices.   “…the villagers are undergoing untold miseries. Moreover, students’ selection exam is coming up,” it expressed. Therefore, the organizations have requested the authorities to look into the matter at the earliest lest public’s patience runs out.   The press release was issued by Luhevi Shohe (GB), Chairman, Coco Area Joint Council; Khuheto Awomi (GB), Secretary, Coco Area Joint Council; and Vihuka H, President, Coco Area Students’ Union.
