MOKOKCHUNG, APRIL 6 (MExN): The Department of Power has informed that there will be a total shutdown of electricity supply across several districts on April 8 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
According to a press release issued by the Executive Engineer, Transmission Division, Mokokchung, the shutdown will affect power supply from the 66/33kV Tuensang Substation, 132/33kV GIS Tuensang Substation, and 132/66/33kV Kiphire Substation.
The department stated that the shutdown is necessitated for stringing of 132kV transmission lines at Tuensang and Kiphire substations. This is being carried out to facilitate charging of the new GIS Tuensang Substation at rated voltage from the Kiphire Substation.
It added that the 132kV Kiphire–Tuensang transmission line is scheduled to be test charged at 132kV voltage on the evening of April 8 upon completion of the work.
During the shutdown period, the affected feeders include the 132kV Mokokchung–Tuensang transmission line, 132kV Tuensang–Longleng transmission line, 66kV Kiphire–Tuensang transmission line, along with 33kV feeders covering Tuensang Town, Longkhim, Noklak, Kiphire Town, and Pungro.
As a result, power supply will be disrupted in Tuensang, Noklak, Shamator and Kiphire districts, including the Likimro Hydro Project and Longkhim/Chare areas.
The department has appealed to the public in the affected areas to extend cooperation and bear the inconvenience during the shutdown period.
