Get rid of all bitterness, rage, and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:31-32
In a democracy the people votes with the expectation that the concerned elected leader will bring about changes and development in their provinces and nations. Democracy is not a system where all political parties are united in their pursuance of power and authority. It is a system in which a battle has to be waged, and the victorious parties occupies the seats of honor and authority. The notion is this: The parties which wins are exalted and the parties which loses are disgraced. The ones who are in power are empowered to pursue all that their heart desires, while the opposition watches them and sulks at their way of life. The nature of their conflicts are dominated by the vices of hatred, bitterness and sin. Truth is losers will always sulk because nobody fights to lose. But this is politics and the sins of it will only multiply as the assembly gets deeper into sin. This is not written to support or oppose any political parties but this has been made known to promote the virtues which God desires and to warn our likes about the consequences of falling into sin.
The nature of the conflicts are like this because of what the world is, but since we are not of the world we are not to align ourselves with the world. A write up such as this may be least expected, but this came about because I felt the need to evangelize not only the sinners but also the politicians. It is not my intention to highlight any of the political ideologies but rather this is to highlight. If people criticize of being involved in politics, I would affirm my stance by stating that Christ did not come for the righteous but for the sinners. If knowing that we are saved by grace shouldn’t we reach out to the unsaved? I suggest that instead of pointing our fingers at the legislatures and officials, we have to judge ourselves first. Truth is they are not saints and neither are we.
Two conflicting parties will always hate each other and sadly the game of election turns into a game of hatred, greed and rivalries. The vices of murder, bitterness, rage and malice results not because of politics but because of hatred. The best way to bring unity in politics is to forsake it. For where there are conflicts there will always be chaos, strife and hatred. Interestingly most of the controversies related with politics are unavoidable because of the nature of the circumstances. The media also becomes a [platform for the battles to be waged. And the writer who writes best often wins.
Truth is many politicians are compelled to sin, for if they sin not, their political authority weakens. The challenge put forward is that, either the system be changed or corruption continues. As long as a person remains in politics, there are 99% chances that he or she will perish. To quote it in a neutral way, I would say that sin becomes the only means to survive. I believe politics will exist as long as civilization exists and it will survive as long as sinners exist. If a politician sins not, the power of God will be made complete in him or her. The sins of lies, deception and immorality often becomes food for the power hunger politicians and bureaucrats. If corruption is to be truly wiped out from politics, the whole human race has to be wiped out. This sounds radical, but this is only an attempt to highlight the acts of injustice which sinner faces.
To sin and to deny it is the same as telling our wives that we love them while we flirt behind their backs. The sins of officials and great personalities will hardly be publicized, for this is the norm of the world. Whoever continues to sin will die and whoever renounces sin will live. God does not wish for any one to perish but for all to come to repentance. Since we have the knowledge of the truth, it will be disastrous if we are to reject this message of truth. The Church of Christ prays for every government and for the leaders of every nation. If any of our leaders are still caught in the web of sin and immorality, we pray that they will value their souls more than their wealth and their extra women and daughters. For such men the scripture says “What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self? (Luke 9:25). What good will it be for a man to win all the votes and flirt with all the women and yet forfeit their souls. The scripture never lies because it is the truth. We urge all those involved in politics to shun evil and to live by the truth.
The ‘Day of Judgment’ is nearer than when we first expected. Every one will one day be judged and the ones who are cast into the lake of fire will be infested with worms and their worms will not die and they shall be salted with fire. The torments of it will be unending. And inspite of the odds against us we believe the best is yet to come and we expect the Spirit to convict all the ungodly people of their ungodly acts. It is better to be convicted while we live, then to be convicted in hell. Follow the way of truth and align yourselves with the Church of Christ for we follow Christ.
