PPC, PSC raise concerns on mass screening and training process

Longleng, August 4 (MExN): The Phom People’s Council (PPC) and Phom Students’ Conference (PSC) has written to the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mokokchung Range, requesting that training of new police recruits at 12th IRB Headquarters, Chingtok, be kept at abeyance.

In a press release on August 4, PPC President P Chingan Phom and PSC President A Mane Phom stated that while screening and training for the new recruits of 12th IRB Chingtok, DEF Longleng and 13th IRB Yajang are being scheduled, many “complaints and objection’ from various Naga tribal hohos have been put up. As such, “the Phom People’s Council and Phom Students’ Conference believes that it is best to keep the matter in abeyance until such time that an understanding conclusion and settlement is arrived at,” the press release stated.

Further, the organizations expressed concern on the safety of the common people in the district and said that it would not be “advisable” to conduct such a mass scale screening and training process in the midst of the pandemic.
