PPC submits representation to R&B Minister

Kohima, April 22 (MExN): The Phom Peoples’ Council (PPC) has requested the minister for R &B and Housing and Mechanical to upgrade Mechanical Sub Division and allotment of machineries to Longleng district.

In a representation addressed to the later, a copy which was made available to The Morung Express, the Council pointed out that the PWD Mechanical in Longleng has as a strength around 10 staffs headed by SO.

In rainy season, when roads become blocked by landslides, the present staff become redundant as required machineries were not available with them to clear the choked roads immediately and prevent traffic block.

“The only option with them is manual handling and clearing of debris off the road, “ it said.

Keeping in mind the raining season ahead, the Council requested the latter to upgrade the Mechanical Sub Division and allot the desired machineries to Longleng PWD (Mechanical) and keep the citizens out of bay of harassment. In another representation, the Council also requested the latter to handover Dikhu Bridge under EE PWD Changtongya to EE PWD Longleng.

The Council stated that the Longleng district is connected to Changtongya and the mainland via Dikhu Bridge. “It is such that we want connected to the mainland and it is our need and want to remain connected to Changtongya and not otherwise,” it said adding that the Dikhu Bridges is the only one life line that connect Longleng and Changtongya.

Thus, any mishappening, it said or fault with the bridges or in the bridge affects the people of Longleng district more than the people of Changtongya.

The Council also thanked the latter for repairing the Dikhu Bridge by the department in the month of February.
