Dimapur, January 11 (MExN): “The Central Rule was imposed by the Centre after ascertaining the facts of the wrong doing and violation of the provisions of the Constitution by the NPF” said a statement issued by Jonathan, media cell, NPCC. Deriding the NPF stating that “If the NPF did not want Central Rule they should have accepted the defeat on the ‘No Confidence Motion’ ” and that it was “NPF greed for power is understood through the unfounded and baseless allegations against the Congress Party and its leader I. Imkong for imposition of Central Rule”.
Accusing the NPF for continuing “to play blame game against the Congress for imposition of the Central Rule without realizing that Central Rule was imposed because of some of their leaders misusing the Speaker’s office and misinterpreting the provisions of the Tenth Schedule, which led to Constitutional crisis”.
Enlightening the NPF on their accusation against Gandhi’s family for imposing the ‘infamous President’s Rule’ in 1992 the statement reads “during the time the Ministry headed by Late Vamuzo, former Chief Minister recommended for imposition of President’s Rule in 1992, whereas the then Governor, M M Thomas without referring the matter to Centre imposed PR in the State after which the Central Government sacked Thomas from the office of the Governor. This being the case, the NPF should not intend to popularize its image by dragging the Gandhi family into any constitutional crisis created by their own unconstitutional act”.
The statement also ridicules the NPF calling it “ a confused Party when their understanding of Central Rule is Military Rule, Army Rule, Martial Law etc”. Besides the statement alleged that “even their claim to be the only regional party in the State to have completed its full term in office through the release of the book entitled “5 Years of Peace, Progress and Development of the Government of DAN of Nagaland” in November 2007 does not hold any truth with the dismissal of the then DAN minority government”. The Congress further castigated by stating that “the NPF has no other welfare programme for the people in the coming election except engaging their Party workers in poster campaign and observe bandh on National Highways to harass innocent public and disrupt normal lives”.
Reminding the NPF the statement shared “that they are confusing themselves while trying to fool the people on the imposition of the Central Rule. No amount of allegations against the Congress is going to help them at this juncture but the people will respond to their unconstitutional act in the 2008 Election”.
