The Mokokchung Town Lotha Hoho celebrated its 56th Tokhu Emong celebration on Monday here at the Town Hall with E Etssingmongo Ngullie, IPS, DIGP (Range), Mokokchung as the special guest.
In his speech, Ngullie spoke about the meaning of Tokhu Emong saying that it is a harvest festival celebrated by the Lotha Nagas. The nine-day fall festival celebrates the end of the harvest season, he said. He further went on to say that love and respect should be maintained among the Lotha community and also with the people they socialize with. He emphasized living in unity and encouraged the Lotha community to practice forgiveness and kindness.
Dr Phyobenthung Odyuo, Associate Professor, Fazl Ali College, also gave a brief exhortation and called attention to valuing tradition and giving importance to the mother tongue. Lotha Students from Clark Theological College and Fazl Ali College also presented songs at the festival. The Tokhu Emong celebration was organised by the Mokokchung Town Lotha Hoho (MTLH)
