Dimapur, February 21 (MExN): The annual cultural day of Pranab College, Dimapur was celebrated on the theme ‘Celebrating Our Roots, Showcasing Our Talents’ on February 21.
The event began with a welcome address by Chumei M Konyak, Cultural Secretary of Pranab College Students' Union (PCSU). In his introductory speech, Principal Dr Santosh Kumar stressed the importance of cultural awareness and encouraged students to stay rooted in their traditions while exploring their talents.
Delivering the keynote address, Tainla Jamir, Head of the Department of History, urged students to preserve their cultural identity and heritage for future generations. “Culture forms the foundation of our identity and must be cherished with pride and responsibility,” she said.
The inaugural ceremony was followed by a series of cultural presentations, including traditional dances, folk songs, drama and musical performances representing different regions and communities. Participants adorned colourful traditional attire, adding authenticity to the celebration.
A drama competition emerged as the highlight of the day, with the Yellow House securing the first position and the Green House declared the runners-up.
