CONDOLENCES HAVE poured in from a wide spectrum of Naga society enunciating remorse and grief over the death of the nine IRB personnel at Chhattisgarh. Nine policemen of the 9th IRB from Nagaland were killed on the spot, while another 9 were seriously injured in landmine blast set up by Naxalites in Chattisgarh on Sunday morning at around 9:00 am.

The funeral service of the 9 policemen is expected to take place at the Chumukedima police grounds on Tuesday, February 8. At the time of filing this report, the bodies of the deceased had yet to reach Dimapur. According to source, a special aircraft will bring the bodies directly from the Chattisgarh State capital Raipur.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Thenucho registering shock and grief over the tragic loss of nine precious lives of 9 IRB Jawans in a landmine explosion triggered by Maoist rebels in Chattisgarh said the valiant jawans sacrificed their lives while performing their bonafide duties. “The use of landmines to take human lives is barbaric and should be condemned by all.”  Thenucho has conveyed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family members at this time of sorrow and grief.
