Our Correspondent Kohima | April 29 A prelude of CAPF U-19 football talent hunt tournament under the aegis of Assam Rifles for both girls and boys took place today at Jotsoma with Minister for Public Health Engineering Chotisuh Sazo as the chief guest. The tournament is scheduled from May 1-8 at Kohima. Speaking at the event, Sazo said that Nagaland is one of the safest states in the country today. “However, laws which are draconian in nature continue to be applied in the state. Hence while enforcing the provision of the laws, I would like to urge the Assam Rifles for restraint and understanding and also to be empathetic to the local populace,” said Sazo. Appreciating the 9th Assam Rifles for conducting the talent hunt event, he said “This kind of event builds and fosters friendship. It also provides opportunity to mingle with one another and which can lead to long lasting friendship.” Sazo urged the participants to make best use of the opportunity provided to them. He said football is a team game and that means every participant is an equal partner. Hence, coordination amongst all the members is the prerequisite to win the game, he said, adding “Therefore, unlike lottery which can be won with luck, football requires well coordinated efforts from all the team members.” Football is a game that provides excellent opportunity to become a professional, he said adding that football professionals are one the highest paid stars in the world. Stating that the talent hunt organised by the 9th AR is laudable, he felt that the young talents should be nurtured and promoted so as to enable them to become professionals. Nagaland’s Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar and several top army officials attended the event.
