‘Premature to hold stockists alone accountable for the mess’

Dimapur, December 19 (MExN): Nagaland Public Rights Awareness and Action Forum (NPRAAF) today appealed to the Nagaland State government to immediately release Welfare Institution and SC/ST/OBC Hostel Schemes under Public Distribution System (PDS), while stating the public should not suffer in the pretext of the recent episode between the ACAUT and the Department of Food & Civil Supplies (F&CS).

NPRAAF opined that the PDS issue cannot be settled neither by raiding and sealing the godown nor by arresting the ACAUT activists, but through understanding. “The malady of the issue must be discussed across the table by concerned parties for remedial measure at the greater interest of all stakeholders and the Government,” it stated in a press release.

NPRAAF further maintained that till the time the truth of the whole episode of PDS fiasco is unearthed by an independent inquiry body, it will be premature to hold stockists alone accountable for the mess. NPRAAF categorically assured the people that it will not rest till justice in the PDS is logically delivered.

Meanwhile, NPRAAF appreciated the F&CS department for the “pragmatic response” to its demands on PDS issue and demands for cancellation of backdoor appointments and subsequent requisition to NPSC/Departmental board for fair open competition, which was given in written by the Government.
