Preparations for Sardar@150 Unity Rally in Shamator underway

A district-level core committee meeting for the upcoming Sardar@150 Unity Rally was held to discuss preparations for the event at DB Hall, Shamator on September 29.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Chubatemjen,  NCS, and attended by the Superintendent of Police, heads of departments, and representatives from the Yimkhiung Tribal Council, Tikhir Tribal Council, Shamator Town Public Forum, Shamator Students’ Union, SEWA, and other local organizations.

A press conference following the meeting was briefed by Kudazo Swuro, EAC Shamator, with the Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, and District Youth Officer, MY Bharat Tuensang, also present.

The Sardar@150 celebration marks the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, known as the “Iron Man of India” and the architect of national integration. The initiative, launched by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, aims to honor Patel’s legacy of unity and statesmanship through events held nationwide.

As part of the commemoration, the Unity Rally in Shamator Town will take place on November 8, covering the route from Police Point to NAP Gate.

Ahead of the rally, a series of pre-event programs will be organized at schools and public venues beginning November 3. The activities will include essay and debate competitions, talks on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, poster-making, cleanliness drives, yoga and wellness sessions, and cultural programmes designed to promote awareness and inspire a spirit of unity among citizens.
