Principals’ Forum appeal on Pfutsero College stand-off

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 28 (MExN): The Executive Body of the Nagaland College Principals’ Forum (NCPF) held an emergency meeting on 28th August 2012 at Tetso College to take stock of the unfortunate incident that occurred between the Principal and Students of Pfutsero College on 23th August 2012. The Forum in a press note issued by its President Dr P.S Lorin and General Secretary Dr Vituo Belho expressed deep anguish by the cause of events that led to the incidents and felt constrained to issue this appeal to all stake holders of Pfutsero College to create an environment of peace and tranquility to facilitate academic progress.

“On deliberation of the issue, the Forum feels that in any organization or family, differences are bound to rise and harmony can be maintained only when all involved play their roles well. As principals, we have to be understanding and compassionate in the process of enforcing the discipline and administrative procedures that will run the institution efficiently; and it is the teachers, staff and students whose cooperation and acceptance will make developmental targets achievable”, stated the NCPF.

It also stated that the institution also cannot move ahead with confidence without the support of the parents and the public. “As surely, when all stakeholders are crucial factors in the educational transaction, we feel that when issues emerge it should be first of all resolved internally with mutual understanding and all democratic and administrative options adopted before extra measures are undertaken”, the press note stated. It went on to add that when “we all work together in such a manner, then the future of Higher Education in Nagaland will not be jeopardized, but we can move ahead progressively”.
