Dimapur, April 26 (MExN): The annual general meeting organised by the Nagaland College Principals’ Forum (NCPF) discussed the Online Examination System which was introduced by the Nagaland University for college earlier this year. The meeting and sports was held at Eastern Christian College Dimapur on April 20 and 21. The Forum felt that a meritorious award which also includes Private Colleges can help encourage the Principals and Teachers of private colleges and provide recognition to deserving candidates.
A press note appended by NCPF President, Dr. P. S. Lorin and General Secretary, Dr. Vituo Belho stated that the Forum discussed the errors in the Universities Online Examination system. The Forum pointed out errors in the examination Hall Tickets which was allegedly of “very poor paper quality”, errors in data; errors in question papers – typing errors, improper page arrangements. The Forum stated that “the system failed in some centers – Standby CD was provided from SETAM, Dimapur; Question papers were not delivered in time to some centers and improper planning and trial runs: proper training was not conducted to all the support technicians. Online UPS were delivered late.”
Regarding Answer Script Evaluation, the Forum complaint that the Computer Monitor is too small and scanned copies are not fully displayed and not clear; no provision for scrutinizer and Head Examiner to allot Marks; filtering of marks while totaling, resulting in loss/ reduction of marks causing loss to the students and computers were shared with SETAM Students for their practical and as such Examiners could not work continuously.

NCPF suggestions to University authority
After thorough deliberation on the matters concerned, the Nagaland College Principals’ Forum (NCPF) felt that it should take up suggestions with University authority. The NCPF proposes that:
1. It would be ideal to provide an Examination Data Centre (EDC) to all colleges which conduct exams to solve the problem of late delivery of question papers.
2. A maximum number of answer scripts to be evaluated should be fixed. This can be done to limit the number of answer scripts corrected per hour or per day by teachers to prevent over work by the teachers and also rushed corrections.
3. Larger monitors with a wide screen high resolution display should be provided to the evaluators in the online system.
4. Answer scripts should be scanned properly so that it can be displayed clearly.
5. Provisions should be given for evaluators, scrutinizers and Head Examiners to allot marks in the online system.
Convocation: The University should conduct convocation yearly to facilitate the graduate students who require pass certificates.
Semester System: The University needs to finalize the details and work out the guidelines and provide the same to the colleges ahead of its implementation. The forum recommends starting semester system by 2012 session.
