Jalukie, January 14 (MExN): Pro Rural, a humanitarian NGO working in the North East region, organised a Public Consultation-cum-Medical Health Camp at the Samziuram Village Council Hall in Jalukie under Peren district on January 13.

The programme was organised under the aegis of HCL Grant India with the theme, “Healthcare access for every family.” A total of 126 people attended the camp, with a significant participation of senior citizens seeking healthcare support.

The first session of the programme was graced by Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) of Peren, Vikoho Puro, who represented the Deputy Commissioner. Addressing the gathering, Puro underscored the importance of preventive healthcare, stating that many illnesses can be avoided through healthy lifestyles and good food habits. He also highlighted various government welfare schemes and health cards available for the benefit of the public.

To support the health camp, two doctors were deputed from the Peren Chief Medical Officer’s office — Dr Kiholi, District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO) and District AIDS Control Officer (DACO), and Dr Viholi, District Programme Officer (DPO), Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD).

Following the public consultation, the medical health camp commenced with strong participation from the community, including people of all age groups. Six health specialists, including dental surgeons, optometrists and family medicine specialists, conducted free medical check-ups for the beneficiaries.

The organisers said the collaborative efforts of Pro Rural, medical professionals and local authorities contributed significantly to the overall success of the camp.
