Dimapur, October 20 (MExN): Following a slew of fund mismanagement charges against SSA, the state government has instated a state-level committee to enquire into the “complaints, grievances and observations” on the program implementations of the department.
The enquiry committee into Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) is former secretary to the government S Among, NCS (rtd), former director of Higher & technical Education Dr. Edward Lotha and former joint secretary to the government HR Chackho, NSS (rtd). The committee is empowered to invite any organization, community or individual to file complaints, grievances, and observations and make positive suggestions and will also be given opportunity to be heard.
Principal Secretary to the Government Banuo Z Jamir, IAS, stated in a note that the Naga Students’ Federation have also been invited to file their complaints and findings on SAA before the committee. The NSF has been agitating on several issues relating to alleged mismanagement of the programmes under SSA.
Meanwhile the Directorate of School Education expresses resentment over the closure of education offices by force on the 18th without any communication by the NSF. “We regretted for the inconvenience caused to the public for no fault of us. The department has examined their grievances and forwarded to the Government for further necessary action. But without proper verification on the matter the NSF has taken their own course of action by putting the office under lock and key all on a sudden, barring officials and public to attend works” lamented a note from Joint Director Petelhouvi-u Vese. Expressing unhappiness for the action, which the department said caused ‘losses’ to the public offices, it was hoped that in future, sensibility would prevail “on an apex body like NSF and expected that the same will not be repeated.”
