Probe demand over SSA fund misuse

Kohima, August 28 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) today launched an agitation in the form of a sit-in-demonstration here in front the Nagaland Civil Secretariat in protest against the failure of the State government to constitute a State Level Independent Enquiry Committee to probe various charges over implementation of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) projects.

Talking to media persons, NSF General Secretary, Hetoi Chishi said that the agitation was launched against the state government’s failure to constitute a State Level Independent Enquiry Committee to probe various charges over the implementation of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) projects in the State.

The NSF opined that SSA being a Centrally Sponsored Scheme should be implemented sincerely in order to uplift the standard of education in the State.

Further, the NSF has warned that it will launch more agitations within next few days if the Government does not fulfill its demands.

Students from different colleges led by the NSF officials joined the dharna by holding placards and banners, which reads ‘Don’t robe SSA fund, use it for children; don’t dilute education with corruption, Make Government schools attractive with SSA fund etc.”

Earlier, the NSF had set a deadline of one month before the State government seeking fulfillment of the demands, which expired on August 3.
