Professionally trained social workers form association in Nagaland

Dimapur, March 12 (MExN): A new organisation was formed to represent the individuals who have completed their professional course of Master in Social Work (MSW) in the State.  

Under the nomenclature, Nagaland Professional Social Workers Association (NPSWA), the body was formed after its first general meeting on October 29, 2017 at Northeast Institute of Social Science Research (NEISSR) campus. “NPSWA is a non- profit Association committed to uplift equality through right ways,” stated a press note issued by President, Itulungbe Ndang.  

The Association will function with the vision, ‘To create a just society and keep human dignity through right ways’ and the mission ‘To facilitate equality through advocacy and conceintization in the society.’  

The second general body meeting was held on November 12, 2017 at NEISSR campus with a group of senior professionally trained Social worker intellectuals where the need of professionally trained social workers Association in the State was deliberated upon in the State of Nagaland like in other States and Countries.  

“Social workers in Naga society can be defined in various ways where people selflessly contribute for the common welfare. However, professionally trained social workers are academically oriented with principles and ethics of social work with scientific approach to various social issues and problems,” the note added.  

Therefore, President, Itulungbe Ndang and Information Secretary, Gabriel Zhimomi has requested all the departments concerned i.e. Health and Family Welfare, Social Welfare and others to recognize MSW degree as any other professionals and be given due equal opportunity like any other academic disciplines in government jobs for a better Nagaland.
