Professionals from Nagaland attend capacity building

Kohima, March 6 (MExN): A group of professionals in the field of disabilities from Nagaland attended two days regional seminar on ‘capacity building of rehabilitation professionals for persons with disabilities in North Eastern states’ held on March 3 and 4 in Imphal, Manipur.  

The programme, attended by around 260 delegates from North East, was organized by RCI, Department of Empowerment of PWD, MSJE, GoI, New Delhi in association with Spastic Society of Manipur.  

The participants from Nagaland were Purnima Kayina, Rosemary Yanthan, Repalemba Jamir, Vedulu Shijoh, Imlimenla Ao, Asangla Jamir, Sentinungla and Kedunol Kikhi.  

A press release informed that the resource persons of the programme were from various reputed institutions and organizations of India, including Suman Kumar, Deputy Director (Prog), Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), Ranjith, Principal, MERF Institute of Speech and Hearing, Chennai. The seminar covered various topics of CWSN, RTE and role and responsibilities of RCI.  

The group has lauded that SMA (SSA), Government of Nagaland for endorsing them to attend such programme. They also appealed to both the government and NGOs working with persons with disabilities to give their full guidance and service albeit limited financial and infrastructural shortcoming in the State.
