Prog to polish skills of women launched in Pfutsero

Pfutsero, April 12 (MExN): A Livelihood and Enterprise Development Programme (LEDP) was launched in Pfutsero on April 11. Organized by Chakhesang Women Welfare Society (CWWS) and sponsored by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), the launch was attended by 65 people.  

Tiakala Ao, Deputy General Manager, NABARD, who was the guest speaker, stated that the motive of the programme is to create better future for women through polishing their skills. She further shared her vision where women are well established as businesses and producer groups with various enterprises.  

Imsunaro, DDM, NABARD, Phek, in her speech, encouraged the SHG members present to take advantage of the programme. The DDM stated that the programme is an opportunity for the SHGs members practicing different traits to sharpen and polish their trade and become professionals.  

Mhathung Khuvung, BM, NStCB, Pfutsero Branch, emphasized on the importance of developing trust and strong relationship with the banks. He stated that the SHGs are entitled to different credit support on condition that they remain hardworking and truthful in availing credit.  

LEDP under the grant assistance of NABARD will select SHG members showing interest in taking up livelihood activities for income generation. The participants will be trained on activities such as weaving, cutting and tailoring, ornament-making and food processing for 15 days, a press release informed.
