Programme on Environmental Issues & Development

Resource persons and College Students participating during the programme on ‘Environmental Issues and Development’ got underway at ATI, Kohima held today.
 
Dimapur, April 4 (MExN): A three days programme on ‘Environmental Issues and Development’ got underway at ATI, Kohima today with 45 participants. Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Abhishek Prakash IAS, Joint Secretary, Home Department encouraged the participants to take the training seriously and disseminate the knowledge gained to every person. The participants who were mostly College students were asked to give their contact details so that they can contribute as volunteers during conduct of mock drill and disaster management activities at different levels. He further motivated the participants to strive for a better future by saying, ‘A journey that leads to something good is always difficult.’
Jonny, State Project Officer, Disaster Risk Reduction programme  gave a brief introduction to the disaster risk reduction (DRR) and Urban Risk Reduction programme which is currently being implemented by the Home Department, Government of Nagaland and Sponsored by GOI-UNDP. Janbemo, President, Green Foundation, Wokha, who will be the main resource person for the three days programme, introduced the course in brief to the gathering. The inaugural function was chaired by Dr. Hovithal N. Sothu, State Coordinator, Disaster Management Cell, ATI and vote of thanks proposed by Er. N. Moa Longkumer, Associate Professor, Disaster Management Cell, ATI.
