‘Project Paper Bridge’ adds 600 books to Dimapur Central Jail

Dimapur, October 23 (MExN): Under the Project Paper Bridge, a library was inaugurated in Central Jail, Dimapur on October 22, adding more 600 books to its mini library.


The new addition was courtesy of Sarvahitey in collaboration with KAL Group (a Dimapur-based law firm) and Sophia Foundation, an NGO have been opening libraries all across Nagaland under ‘Project Paper Bridge.’ 


A press release issued by Lima Longkumer, Project Coordinator, Access to Justice, Nagaland stated all the books have been collected from all across India and abroad.  Heather Lynn, who had travelled all the way from Michigan, USA contributed books which she had brought with her.


Prem Prakash, co-founder of Sarvahitey NGO said that the main purpose of the library was to work on three 'R's Reformation, Rehabilitation, Reintegration of the inmates, it added.  


According to the release, the Project Paper Bridge has already been running 2 libraries in jails of Nagaland (Dimapur District Jail and Mon District Jail). 


Alemla of Sophia Foundation, who has been churning this movement in Nagaland shared her experience of conducting recital sessions in Dimapur District Jail and all inmates were visibly excited at this proposition, it said. 


Esther K Aye from KAL Group suggested screening of some movies with the help of laptop and projector for the inmates, it added. The prison authority has to approve the same. 


Dr Oben, Jailor, Central Jail, Dimapur delivered the welcome address while Buming Khiam, Senior Jailor gave the inaugural speech. The inaugural programme was chaired by Lashika Aye, Associate of KAL Group. 
This was 206th library opened under Project Paper Bridge in India, 26th in Nagaland.
