Late Shantilalji Chhabra

Dimapur, July 12 (MExN): Shantilalji Chhabra, renowned social worker and member of one of the oldest settling families of Dimapur passed away on July 11.


He was 82.


Late Chhabra served Dimapur Jain Samaj for more than four decades as an executive, besides being President and Secretary for 12 years.


He also served as President of Rotary Club of Dimapur, Secretary of Nagaland Small Scale Industries Association, Member of Growth Center, SISI, Nagaland, Advisor of Small Scale industries, New Delhi, Advisor to Post and Telegraph, Dimapur, Member of Executive Board of State Bank of India, Dimapur, Trustee and President of All India Digambar Jain Mahasabha, Dimapur, President of Kirara Digambar Jain Samaj, Chief Patron of Jain Gazette etc.


Born on November 18, 1938, Late Chhabra leaves behind his wife Sulochana Devi, 2 sons, 3 daughters and 11 grandchildren.

 

Marwari Samaj condoles
The Marwari Samaj on Sunday mourned the demise of ‘patriarch’ Chhabra.


“He was a noble and kind-hearted soul who served and contributed a lot towards the development of Dimapur Society as a whole,” it said in its condolence message.


It also prayed for solace to the departed’s family.
