
With the motto ‘Promoting Every Child’s Right to Entertainment’, the Nagaland Children’s Film Bonanza began at RCEMPA Auditorium Jotsoma, Kohima with Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio as the special guest at the inaugural programme on October 9. According to a DIPR report, the Children Film Bonanza will be a five day long festival starting from October 9 to 13. The films will be screened daily at 10:00 am, 12 noon and 2:00 pm.
CM launches ‘Nani Teri Morni’
The movie titled ‘Nani Teri Morni’ was launched by the special guest in the presence of the chairperson, CFSI, Swati Pandey, IPS, Minister, Advisor and other dignitaries.
The CM stated that launching of the 1st Nagamese film is a momentous occasion, as it is shot in Nagaland and based on the inspiring story of Mhonbeni Ezung, the winner of National Bravery Award, 2015. He said that it’s truly an inspiring story and believed that the students present here today will get motivated after learning her story on how she saved her grandmother.
‘Film plays formative role’
Rio expressed that Nagaland known for its beautiful landscape, natural beauty, culture and traditions, ranging from legendary head hunters, to the stories of Second World War and the struggle of Naga identity and stories of insurgency and peace will be a subject on which many researchers have worked on and can be subject for writing books and making films.
He further mentioned that, film has become the biggest platform of art and entertainment, has become more universal and accessible than books and paintings. He expressed that films and theatre is a tool that can be used to influence and shape a society, plays a formative role in drawing attention to important issues as well as mold the public opinion. Moral of the story reflects the good and the bad about the human beings, he added.
Rio stated that the CFSI has organised this festival realising the importance of developing positive traits amongst children by exposure to healthy and educative films.
The festival is being organised in collaboration with the department of Social Welfare, Art Culture, Youth Resources & Sports, School Education and Information & Public Relations, GoN. The target audiences of the students are from class V to class XII of both Government and private Schools.
Chairperson, children Film Society, India, Swati Pandey, IPS while delivering her speech said the film ‘Nani Teri Morni’ is the movie which was solely shot in Nagamese dialect. She also mentioned about the bravery and courage of Mhonbeni Ezung, who is holding the title of the youngest bravery award. Her act of courage and bravery would inspire the other children to emulate in the coming days, she added.
