Nehru Yuva Kendra, District Youth Convention was conducted at Penli Community Hall, Mokokchung on February 28 with T. Lemlila Sangtam SDO (C), Mokokchung as the chief guest of the programme.
The Youth Convention was held with objective of promoting purposeful interaction among the youth on socially relevant issues and to sensitize them to find solution to critical socio-economic and national development issues with special reference to role of youths, and to provide an opportunity to youth for reparation of future road map of their involvement in nation building activities.
At the inauguration programme, T. Lemlila Sangtam stated that we should comply to God’s plan with enthusiasm, perseverance and commitment towards life. She stated that youth are indispensible from society and they are the future of tomorrow. Young people have energy and that has to be channelized towards nation building. She also exhorted the youth to get proper education so as to enlarge the knowledge and wisdom to decide the right decisions. She also called upon the youth to have positive mindset and contribute positively to the society and to use their talents and nurture their skills.
While delivering the key note address, John Makhabo, District Youth Cordinator, NYK, Mokokchung highlighted the aims and objectives of NYK in channelizing and harnessing youth potentials towards nation building activities. He also called upon the youth to dedicate themselves for the development of their own villages.
The programme was chaired by Marmenla. Cultural programmes were presented by Shalom Ministry, Ungma and Longkhum Students’ Union. Best Youth Club Award 2016 was given to Telongjem SC Club, Longkhum village with cash award of rupees 25,000, the first prize for Patriotism Declamation Contest was bagged by Nungsangrenla, Chubakumzuk second prize Meyisangla third prize. Sport materials were given to NYK, affiliated youth clubs. The vote thanks was given by Miss Bendangmenla NYC.
