DIMAPUR, OCT 29 (MExN): Responding to the statement of NSCN (IM) Chairman Isak Chishi Swu made on October 28 during the UNPO General Assembly at Taipei, Taiwan, the NNC has stated that Th Muivah and Swu were attempting to impose ‘forcibly’ on the Nagas, a solution within the Indian Union and cautioned that the kind of solution Muivah and Swu was presently seeking will never end the Indo-Naga conflict.
Alleging that the duo were asking the world to give pressure on the Nagas to accept the fundamental principles of the Indian constitution, the NNC press note issued by Thomas quoted Swu: “interdependence has replaced independence, we have therefore proposed a special federal relationship between India and Nagalim”.
Reminding that Nagas had rejected the 16-point agreement of 1960 and also the proposal of Nagaland Peace Mission in 1965, which was to be a “solution within the Indian Union, outside the constitution (later known as Suisa’s proposal)” and therefore Swu should not speak such ‘treacherous words against the Nagas and Naga nation.” “Instead he should nobly admit his mistakes and failure for the larger interest of Naga people”, the NNC stated.
Also pointing out that Nagas had their traditional democracy and classless society, the NNC alleged that the duo was trying to impose socialism on the Nagas at gun point since the last 26 years. “Yet, they faced a failure and now they are attempting to impose forcibly on the Nagas with seeking a solution within the Indian Union”. It was also alleged that those opposing such a solution were being hunted.
