‘Prosperity through unity’

“Naga society has been talking about peace and prosperity but at the present context, it can be achieved only through unity,” said Y. Kikheto Sema IAS, Secretary, Land Resources, Government of Nagaland on Friday at the 31st Freshers’ meet cum Social Parting of Public College of Commerce, Dimapur at Town Hall.  

Speaking under the theme, “Nothing is permanent except change,” Kikheto said that the Naga society needed to change their mindset on many fronts in order to progress. He said old cultural traditions which are obsolete needs to be reviewed to fit the contemporary situation and emphasized that women should be given space in the society to prove their mantle.  

“For every problem there is a solution and one should approach the problems differently,” he added. Kikheto told the freshers that their joining college was only a beginning adding, “Joining College is not a finished product but a raw material which has to undergo through a lot of changes.”  

He also urged the students to create awareness on protecting flora and fauna and the unique cultural traditions of the Naga people.  

Principal, Talukdar and PCC Governing Board Member, Atovi ex-MLA also spoke briefly during the programme. Divine Mech and Ratnadeep were crowned as Miss fresher and Mr fresher respectively.
