‘Protect Duilumroi catchment areas for hydro sustainability’

Nagaland Power Secretary, Asangla Imti today said that for the sustainability of Duilumroi Small Hydro project, the catchment area should be protected and forest cover should also be maintained.

Stating this during the inaugural programme of 2.4 MW Duilumroi Small Hydro project at Poilwa under Peren district, she requested the department to sensitize and co-ordinate with the neighbouring villages and grow more trees. She also requested the department to run and manage the project effectively and make a model hydro project of the department.

With the completion and commissioning of 2.4 MW Duilumroi project, the Power Secretary hoped that the department would be able to develop a small hydro project in the years to come and also upkeep the maintenance and generate optimum energy to the fullest.

Chief Engineer (T&G) Er Kasho Chishi said the project’s physical activities and construction started in April 2021 with a target of completing it within 36 months, while it was technically commissioned on 11th December, 2024.

Mentioning that the project was completed with a total cost of Rs 40.29 crore under the State Plan, he thanked the State Government, Planning and Finance Department for the smooth flow of funds.

He also thanked the project and transmission line Contractors for completing the project on time.

Chief Engineer (T&G) Rtd, Er Penrithung Yanthan in his short speech said the completion of the 2.4 MW Duilumroi SHP is indeed a phenomenal achievement of the Department of Power, and for which he extended his appreciation to the Chief Engineer (T&G) and his team for effectively monitoring the progress of the project, the Generation Division and Hydel Division for their commitment, the contractors for delivering the quality work.

He also congratulated everyone involved for the successful completion of the project in record time overcoming challenges. Further, he also lauded the support and cooperation extended to the department by the villagers of Poilwa and Heunambe village which helped the department in carrying out the works smoothly. He also acknowledged former minister Neiba Kronu and the then Power Advisor Tovihoto Ayemi towards the success of the project.

This project was inaugurated by Nagaland Power and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, KG Kenye.
