Under the Protection of Women from Violence Act 2008, a total of 32 Protection Officers have been designated for all the districts of Nagaland, said Parliamentary Secretary for Women & Child Development Chotisuh Sazo today. Nagaland is also the first state in the northeast to implement the Child Protection Scheme instated by the Union Ministry of Women & Child Development. It will tackle all child–related issues. For this, the department is in the process of constituting ‘child rights’, he said. Three ICDS projects are underway in Asuto, Imsong and Athibung. Except for Kiphire, Peren and Longleng, sanction for ICDS has already been accorded for the other eight districts. Posts of project officers, with sub-officers and staff comprising of 261 Anganwadi workers and helpers have already been deputed by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development, Sazo said. Also, the department has constituted a Juvenile Board in all the districts, with full establishment facilities, the parliamentary secretary added.
