Dimapur, July 12 (MExN): The Chakro Angami Kuda Union has expressed discontentment over the allegations made by the Advocate General of Nagaland K N Balgopal against Advocate Edward Belho, who is the Standing Counsel for Nagaland in the Supreme Court of India.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister of Nagaland appended by CAKU President K Medom and CAKU Jt. Secretary Keneiselie Angami stated: “...shocked to learn about the conduct of Mr K N Balgopal in campaigning for removal of Mr Edward Belho from the post he is now holding, by virtue of his sheer competence, by levelling false allegations and passing misinformation against him at the corridors of power.” The note also stated that the matter has been deliberated upon by the leaders of the Tenyimia community of Dimapur in a meeting on July 10, wherein it was resolved to the “open letter” to the Chief Minister of Nagaland.
The CAKU in the note stated that Edward Belho is a young and promising lawyer and is well known for his honesty, efficiency and amiable personality and has so far enjoyed full confidence of the State Government. It has appealed the Chief Minister of Nagaland “not to entertain or consider the unjustified demand” put forth by K N Balgopal for the removal of Edward Belho from the post of the Standing Counsel for Nagaland in the Supreme Court of India.
