Tuensang, October 15 (MExN): Against the backdrop of the deadline of SSA teachers’ ultimatum expiring on October 16, Pathso Range Students’ Union (PRSU) has expressed surprise to note that the “builders of our nation” are being harassed. A press statement from PRSU general secretary, Thangpong P Lam and acting president, K Shangchiu stated, “By harassing them, we are harassing the future of our own children.” It pointed out that through interaction with some aggrieved teachers, it was learnt that their lives were always a struggle since their appointment under SSA. It quoted one of the teachers as stating, “I am not a teacher anymore, but a beggar.” Questioning the non-payment of salary to the teachers, the union added, “The careers of students are worth a thousand times than the politics that does not favor the populace.”
