PSAN ultimatum on backdoor appointment garners more support

Dimapur, June 11 (MExN): The Dimapur Rengma Students’ Union (DRSU) today extended “fullest support” to the ultimatum served to 5 departments – Rural Department, Social Welfare, Labour Employment, Art & Culture, and Treasuries and Accounts – by the Public Service Aspirants of Nagaland (PSAN).

In a press statement, DRSU President, Tenyebinlo Himb and Education & Statistical Secretary, Senwalo Kath lauded the PSAN for bringing to light the “backdoor” appointments by the five above mentioned departments.

“The people of Nagaland are all very frustrated with the system because of the various ill activities, misuse of unauthorized power and snatching of the basic rights from the deserving educated people,” the union maintained.

It further alleged that the students are adversely affected because of the “black system” and the practice of excess corruption in the State by the “self vested leaders”.

DRSU reminded the “self vested leaders” that “you are supposed to be ‘for the people’ and not ‘against the people’.” The leaders, it asserted, are meant to serve the people “rather than dictate and pay no hint and turn deaf ears to the cry of the people in general and students in particular.”

Meanwhile, it affirmed it is high time “we eradicate the menace of corruption and malpractice of backdoor appointment or so called political appointment in our land before it consumes us all and lead us to a very different path we never thought of.”

Asserting that it will not tolerate any “ignoring attitude”, especially by the five departments, it urged to pay attention to the ultimatum served by the PSAN. The union also appealed to the various NGOs, associations, unions, organizations to voice out and show their concern so as to see a better future for the people of Nagaland.
