DIMAPUR, JANUARY 31 (MExN): The Phom Students’ Conference (PSC) has decided to go ahead with its proposed agitation concerning the zero progress of the construction of Longleng-Ladigarh NEC (group c) road, the work order for which was awarded to M/s Chabou & Co in the year 2006. It may be noted that the PSC’s ultimatum served to the PWD regarding the issue expired on January 30. The PSC informed that it would begin protest from February 2. “While in good faith enough time had been allotted to the concerned department and the contractor to commence the construction of the road in subject and positive response awaited, unfortunately the department turned deaf ear and no positive intervention had been noticed so far and thus such ignorance and negligence by any department or society is unacceptable in modern society,” the PSC said. The PSC lamented that besides other long pending developmental projects in the district, the Longleng-Ladigarh road is “one of the oldest since the work order had been issued, (and) the department had wasted almost 9 years without even commencing the construction, especially the (group c) section…” The successive Nagaland state government’s have been witness to the hue and cry of the people pleading for early completion of the project, it said. It further accused the concerned department of not adhering to its commitments made during the joint meeting with the PSC on October 27, 2011. “Thus, the PSC is left with no option but to resort to any democratic means of stir in order to meet its genuine demands,” it said. It further informed all federating units of the PSC to be “mentally prepared” and requested stakeholders of Longleng district to extend support and co-operation in fighting for this cause.
