PSC demands posting of DEO & SDEO in Longleng before Aug 31

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 20 (MExN): The Phom Students’ Conference (PSC) today demanded that the Department of School Education post/depute the concerned DEO and SDEO in Longleng on or before August 31.

A press note from the PSC President, A Mane Phom and General Secretary, Shunglam Longbahu stated that the department has been functioning without the concerned HoDs since February 28 and June 30 respectively.

It expressed dismay at the lackadaisical attitude of the concerned department on this crucial issue, even after submitting representation to the department on May 20. The PSC wondered how a department can function without the HoDs and expect impressive results.

It further questioned the concerned department and the state government, whether they would look into the matter only after the conference takes up some hard measures like agitation, protest and shutting down of offices under its jurisdiction. It also asked the State Government if they were unaware of the retiring HoDs under DEO & SDEO, Longleng or was it a failure on the part of the concerned department to apprise the same, beforehand.

The PSC meanwhile cautioned the department against posting or deputing an official who is on the verge of retirement and ill health or for the time being. “Failing which the PSC will initiate its own course of action,” it added. The PSC further asked all the teachers posted under Longleng district to be stationed and perform their duties without fail. It warned that the conference would initiate action against erring teachers.

The PSC informed that it conducted surprise inspection of various departments from June 13 to 15 under Longleng district. “It has come to our notice that most of the HoDs and staff are out of station and are not performing their duties as they should. In addition, the HoDs & staff in various departments under Longleng district report to their office only at the end of the month,” it revealed.

As such, the PSC said that the public are facing untold hardship and inconvenience. It therefore cautioned all HoDs and staff posted at Longleng district that such negligence on their part will be dealt with very seriously.
