PSC flay deplorable condition of GHS Tamlu

Longleng, August 19 (MExN): The Phom Students’ Conference (PSC) has expressed its “utmost sadness” over the step-motherly treatment by the Department of School Education (DOSE) towards the improvement of Government High School, Tamlu.

In this regard, the Phom Students’ Conference has demanded that the Department of School Education “immediately attend” to the plea of the PSC failing which, it warned, “the Union might be left with no option but to fight for justice for the cause of education and students’ future”.

It may be noted that the very school which had served as the centre that sparked off lots of pioneers in the past had been left abandoned and unattended till date, the PSC stated in a press release adding, “Since its establishment in the year 1973, the State Government had left the infrastructural development at pitiable condition.”

Conveying utmost regret, the union informed of several representations submitted to the Department of School Education for improvement of the Govt. School Tamlu, and questioned the state government as well as the DOSE as to why its pleas and representations have never been attended.

It may be noted that during the “Wheel Tour” campaigned by the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) on March 7, 2014, the deplorable state of the High School was widely published in the media for immediate and prompt action by the State Government. However, no attention had been emphases to it till date.

Besides, numerous positive assurances made to the union, the present Minister for School Education had even assured special emphases to be endorsed for improvement and development of the School, the PSC stated.

The PSC further expressed deep shock and disheartenment to learn of the GHS Tamlu not being included in the priority list for re-strengthening in the recent tender call.

Contemplating the plight and suffering of the poor school children, the PSC fervently requested the State Government as well as the Department of School Education to attend the plea.
