Former international football player Roko Angami, who graced the closing ceremony as the valedictory guest, gave away prize to the winners.

Addressing the gathering,  Roko asserted that football is not just a sport. It is a lesson in life, which teaches resilience humility in victory and grace in defeat.

“Today, we gather here not just for a football match but to celebrate a legacy-25 years of passion, perseverance and unforgettable moments at PSU Silver Jubilee Memorial Football Tournament 2026,” Roko said.

May this tournament foster a stronger, more vibrant community, said Roko, who is OSD (Sports), Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland.

Roko, who is also president of Nagaland Football Coaches Association said “Let this tournament be a new dawn for football in our region. Let us commit to fostering discipline, sportsmanship and true teamwork not just today but at all times.”

He wanted this tournament to inspire more young footballers to dream big and carry the torch forward and create future champions.

He urged upon the players to respect their opponents, honour the game and build bridges, not barriers and also remember that success come from hard work on and off the fields.

There is no substitute for hard work, he said. “Success doesn’t come easy. There will be lots of challenges along the way. Be prepared, be patient and put extra effort and time,” Roko insisted.

Further, Roko  called upon the players to show the world the strength of unity and the passion in hearts.
