Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt to headline grand finale of ‘Rockaware’ today

Dimapur | October 14 : Renowned musician and Grammy winner, Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, will not only grace but also perform (guest appearance) at the grand finale of ‘Rockaware’ contest at DDSC Stadium, Saturday evening. The ‘World charmer’ who arrived Dimapur Friday late afternoon met with organizers and officials of the ‘Rockaware’ contest and also interacted with district-wise winning bands at  Jumping Bean café.
“I am happy and surprised to see the talents here. I feel this (Nagaland) is a land of music,” Bhatt said and added that he has “great love” for Naga people, their music and culture.
The virtuoso said that this is his second visit to the state (the first was during the 2006 Hornbill Festival rock contest). “I have come here for one reason; to show solidarity with NSACS and to tell everybody that I care. Let us all join hands together,” he said.
Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) director Dr. Nandira Changkija and Music Task Force (department of Youth Resources & Sports, Nagaland) director Gugs Chishi also spoke on the occasion.
 ‘RockAware’ rock contest, a campaign to spread awareness on AIDS is an initiative of NACO with Music Task Force as chief patron and Legislators Forum on AIDS as chief event partner.
The slogan of the campaign is “Nagaland in unison: AIDS is our problem. We care.” The district-wise bands to perform in the grand finale are Cadence (Kohima), Hardcore Addition (Phek), Cliffers (Kiphire), P-Brunch (Longleng), Tears of Judas (Tuensang), RASP (Mon), Maskil Praise (Peren) Avancer (Dimapur), In Da Name (Mokokchung), Anti-Trust (Zunheboto) and AOF (Wokha). Besides Pt. Bhatt, guest appearances include Alo Wanth Band, UFR Free Stylers and Melodrama.
