Phek, August 19 (MExN): The Phek Town Chakhesang Students' Union (PTCSU) has appealed to the Director of School Education to immediately deploy/appoint nine teachers at the Government Higher Secondary School Phek. Posts for nine teachers are lying vacant in the school, according to a press release from PTCSU.
The students’ union pointed out that GHSS Phek which has a high student enrolment and producing one of the best academic results annually in the state has been facing acute shortage of 7 Graduate Teachers in the High School section and 2 Post Graduate Teachers in the Secondary section. The teachers were deputed/promoted/transferred out of GHSS Phek since 2004, said the release issued by PTCSU President, Thuputo Venuh and Education Secretary, Vetsozo Soho.
"Due to the acute shortage of teachers, even office staff like Typists, Physical Education Teachers are made to teach along with their assigned duty, apart from sponsoring one private honorarium teachers by the school through monetary contribution of the students and teaching faculties," the release stated.
The union has appealed to the Department to take up the matter on priority basis and initiate action without further delay so that the careers of the students are not jeopardized. Meanwhile, PTCSU cautioned that it will be compelled to take action if there is no response from the department concerned.
