PTCSU, PCCI, district administration and others during the destruction of tobacco products at Phek.

Kohima, June 13: (MExN): Having learnt that some business establishments were selling gutka and other tobacco products at very exorbitant rates at Phek town which is also a violation of the government directives, the Phek Town Chakhesang Students' Union (PTCSU) and Phek Chamber of Commerce & Industries (PCCI) jointly conducted a surprise inspection within its jurisdiction on June 9 and 10.
The two organisations seized the tobacco products and trade permits/license of the defaulters for selling and stocking of the banned products.
Later, the seized items were destroyed in the presence of the district administration, DBs and other civil bodies.
The seized product was worth about Rs. 1.20 lakh at MRP rate and over Rs. 5 lakh at exorbitant rate.
The organizations warned the dealers/ suppliers/retailers to abstain from such activities, adding that it shall be compelled to take stricter action if such activities are detected again.
It also appealed to the district administration and police personnel on duty to be more vigilant in monitoring such activities.
