Phek, July 8 (MExN): The Phek Town Youth Society (PTYS) under the ‘Clean Green Operation’ picked up scattered polythene, wrappers and other waste materials, desilted puddles, pruned hedges and mowed yards to control mosquitoes larvae in stagnant water across the town on July 8.
The cleanliness drive, which covered 11 colonies of Phek Town, was participated by about 160 youths.
According to a press release, the Society sensitized the public not to throw waste materials hither and thither, rather maintain a dustbin in every nook and corner and prevent other sources of stagnant water to avoid malaria disease. The youths also cleared weeds and grasses to nurture planted trees and seasonal flowers in the past few days.
Meanwhile, the PTYS president, Neihite Akami has requested all the youth volunteers of Phek Town to be prepared to clear up jungles at Phek Town tourist guest house on July 22.
