Public apprehends illegal collector

One person was apprehended by alert residents of a colony in Dimapur for reportedly trying to impose monetary penalty on a shop. The incident happened at Lake View colony on November 3 at around 2:00-3:00pm. As told to The Morung Express by a resident of the said colony, the apprehended individual claimed to be working for one of the Naga Political Groups. 

“He was found demanding money from a shopkeeper, in the colony, on the charge of using domestic LPG cylinder in a business setting,” the resident said. The individual, alongwith another person, had reportedly arrived in an autorickshaw driven by the former. When confronted by the local residents, the individual claimed that he was only working on behalf of the person, who hired his autorickshaw. The other person absconded taking advantage of the commotion.

According to the resident, he was handed over to the police and an FIR filed at West Police Station.
