The petrol pump which was damaged by members of the public on Thusday night in Mokokchung.
Mokokchung, January 30 (MExN): Irate public of Mokokchung town on Thursday night vandalized the petrol pump machines at a filling station (BOC) located at Sungkomen Ward. The incident was caused after word spread that the dealers of the said refill station were selling adulterated fuel.
Some customers had reportedly discovered that the fuel sold at the said filling station that included petrol, diesel and engine oil were adulterated and that the pump machines’ meters were also manipulated to cheat customers. People from around the town, mostly young men, gathered at the filling station and damaged some of the pump machines.
The incident happened at around 7:00 pm. The aggrieved customers produced samples of the fuel sold at the filling station along with filter papers to justify their claims. Leaders of the Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem were also found at the site, who said that they would take the matter to the competent authority for further investigation.
