Public meeting held in Wokha to discuss Aug 12 incident

Serves ultimatum for the arrest of the accused within 10 days  

WOKHA, AUGUST 16 (MExN): A public meeting was held on August 13 to discuss the arrest of two persons namely, Renchamo Khuvung and Ngapancham Kasar for allegedly being involved in extortion activity at Santsuphen Wokha and the August 12 incident, wherein the office of the NSCN (IM) ‘Wokha Town Command’ was ransacked by an irate crowd.   The meeting was attended by several frontal organisations including the Lotha Youth Hoho, ACVA, ACAUT, WDEA, Team Metamorphosis and WDAU.  

A joint statement from the organisations informed that the house resolved to submit an ultimatum to the state government to “arrest Nrikhon Aka Albert Lotha ZCO cum Town Commander, Wokha Town who is the main accused as revealed by the culprit arrested in relation to August 12th 2016 incident.” It demanded that the arrest should be made within 10 (ten) days from the time of receiving of this letter, “after which if on the part of government failure the  Lotha public shall necessitate befitting action.”  

It also decided to submit a memorandum to the State Government, Nagaland Contractor & Suppliers Union and Lotha Class - I Registered Union to cancel the license office registration from the respective office with immediate effect.  

It further agreed that the Ceasefire Monitoring Group Office will be informed through its Chairman to remove the Wokha Town Commander “with immediate effect for working against the wish of the Nagas in general and the Lothas in particular.” “The office of the Town Command NSCN (IM) will also have to be shifted out of public habitation to a designated area as per laid ceasefire ground rules,” it demanded.  

The meeting agreed that a clear signal needs to be communicated to all Naga political groups to avoid any intervention with regard to the August 12 case. It further asserted that “Lothas shall strongly stand with Nagas resolution of One government One Tax. That if any untoward happens in any of the Lothas, the Lotha shall strongly necessitate befitting action and for which the Lotha public shall not be held responsible.”
