Public movement against COVID-19 in Nagaland

Renowned personalities join movement

Kohima, October 9 (MExN): The ‘Jan Andolan on COVID Appropriate Behaviors’ or a public movement against COVID-19 launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 8 has received support from well known personalities in the State.

The movement aims to bring overall involvement of the public in the COVID war, a PIB report informed.

Mercy Tetseo of the famed folk band Tetseo Sisters urged the public to continue practicing good hygiene using face mask, washing hands frequently and maintaining physical distance. She further urged the people to be safe against coronavirus even as the country slowly comes out of the current lockdown.

Journalist and author Vishu Rita Krocha who runs a home based publication called PenThrill, expressed confidence that we will win the fight against the pandemic. She exhorted everybody to practice “Do gaj ki doori” and safety measures.

Former Miss Nagaland, Ruopfuzhano Whiso said people need to continue maintaining safety precautions and eat healthy food during the new normal as pandemic is not yet over.

Alice Yhoshu, president of Kohima Press Club reminded to practice COVID-19 appropriate etiquettes including hand hygiene, wearing of mask and social distancing as the country starts unlocking and people start coming out.

Stating we can fight the pandemic together, Arenla Subong of folk fusion band Abogenesis fervently appealed the public to avoid large gatherings.

Another member of the same band, Moa Subong said that though the times may be difficult, a concerted effort from everyone would help overcome the pandemic. He further urged the people to stay home and move out only when necessary.

Meanwhile, employees of Press Information Bureau Kohima, Field Outreach Bureau Kohima and All India Radio Kohima which are under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting took a pledge in support of the Jan Andalon and the fight against COVID-19 at their respective office premises.
