Public of Yonglaoja colony in Wakching town under Mon District has started constructing a slap culvert at the abandoned PWD road.
Mon, September 4 (MExN): Without any help from the government, the public of Yonglaoja colony in Wakching town under Mon District has started constructing a slap culvert at the abandoned PWD road which runs through their colony from the old PWD Store to Chingdang village passing through Model Science College and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya.
“There are around 60 households in the colony and it may take a week to complete the project,” stated a press release received here.
Wakching Town Students' Union (WTSU) President, Yonglong Chemshe along with the office bearers visited the construction site on September 2. He acknowledged the task shouldered by the public of the colony and encouraged the public of Wakching Town to follow the footsteps of the Yonglaoja colony.
He also informed that the WTSU office will “soon draft a strategic framework under the nomenclature, 'Wakching Hq Vision 2029' which will project the road map of all essential developments.”
Further, he appealed to the Department of PWD (R&B) to retain the said road as it runs as lifeline for the people of Wakching Town as well as Chingdang Village. The same road may be widened and maintained from the non-plan road maintenance fund 2020-21 earmarked for Naginimora Division, it added.
