Public violence, an outburst of people’s impatience, says NNC

Dimapur, April 24 (MExN): The NNC has today termed  the outbursts from the civilians such as the ‘Fiery Sunday’ mob violence as ‘people’s long patience and tolerance bursted into action’ and not ‘unexpected and unfortunate’ because ‘people’s shout for peace and appeal to stop killing and violence has, but fell into deaf ears of the so called NSCN leaders’ stated a release issued by Thomas, NNC Member.

‘The violent activities in Nagaland are in fact not an accidental event but intentionally generated by the NSCN leaders,’ stated Thomas. In 1978, NNC requested them (Collective Leadership) not to form socialist form of government, which ‘will surely lead to violence and bloodshed among the Nagas. But they did not take heed of our advice and request; rather they adopted violent action and killed national leaders and Naga army officers who opposed their socialist ideology. Not only they killed national workers but also burnt down many villagers and granaries in Eastern Nagaland and caused to die thousand villagers on starvation,’ stated the release.

Therefore, Thomas, NNC Member stated, ‘the formation of the NSCN was not a mistake and misunderstanding, and the killing is not a mistake but intentionally committing wrong against the Nagas. And the violence started from the Eastern Nagaland was not ended there but spread to Western and Southern parts of Nagaland, thus many became the victims of this violence.’ The IM leaders and Nagas know the tolerance of Naga people on the violent activities of the NSCN cadres reached to zero point, hence many people predicted, ‘it would break into violence and even a civil war may happen at anytime if the NSCN leaders do not stop violence’ stated the release. The NSCN leaders know that killings and violence will not lead to desired goal but they, however, don’t want to say, ‘we have stopped killing and violence, but instead they are committing more violence and killings after the ‘duel’ leaders reached home’, stated Thomas and further added that the Sunday riot on April 22 will not be an end but will continue until and unless theNSCN leaders ‘abolish the NSCN set up’ which is the source of violence.

In other words, stated Thomas, the NSCN leaders defiled the words of God by refusing to obey Him and to follow His path through which He is leading the Naga nation. They may shout ‘Nagaland for Christ’ but their anti-social and anti-national activities are a mockery to Nagaland for Christ, he stated. Thomas has also accused the peacemakers among the Nagas for failing to speak the truth which, on the other hand, could not afford to bring peace among the Nagas but instead patronized more killing and violence.

All Nagas therefore have to accept that ‘God has His own purpose for the Nagas and He is leading and protecting the Naga nation from the beginning. He has saved the Naga nation by signing of an illusion accord and brought peace to Nagaland’ stated the release. Thomas further added ‘when all Nagas accept God given sovereignty and peace, then only peace and tranquility will prevail in Nagaland’. Prayer for forgiveness without repentance will make no difference in Nagaland and the only key to repentance means to abandon violence, which is to abandon the so called NSCN for the interest of peace and tranquility in nagaland’ stated Thomas.
