Public waiting for separate Unlock 2 SOP for ‘Para 3 & 4’

Dimapur | July 13

As on July 13, around 4.4 percent of Nagaland’s population has received the second shot of the COVID-19 vaccine. It translated into roughly 95 thousand people out of the state’s estimated 20-lakh total population.

Now, as per the July 9 lockdown relaxation order or Unlock 2, ‘Para 4,’ stated that only those people, who have “completed their COVID-19 vaccination (both doses taken),” is asymptomatic and “subject to adherence to COVID-19 appropriate behavior” can travel inter-district. This caveat, more or less, also applied to travelers entering the state as stated in ‘Para 3’ of the order.

While the stricture is clear enough, it also implies that only around 95 thousand people are eligible to travel at present, provided they are asymptomatic, which further brought into question the government’s logic.

Moreover, Para 6 of the same order informed that “separate SOP with regard to Para 3 and 4 will be issued by the Home Department,” giving the impression that the government will come out with a clearer guideline soon.

However, four days on, the averred “separate SOP” remains elusive. In a bid to clarify the open ended order of July 9, The Morung Express made a bid to contact the state Home Department on July 13, but the calls went unanswered.
