Publicly funded new T Khel GMS to be inaugurated today 

Kohima, April 13 (MExN): The newly reconstructed Tsütuonuomia Khel Government Middle School (GMS), one of the oldest schools in Kohima Village, will be inaugurated on April 15.

The completed ground plus 4-storey school building will accommodate Principal room, Staff room, Pantry, Auditorium and 14 classrooms with separate lavatories for male and female. 

The intake capacity of the building is 300 to 350 students, informed a press release issued by  T Khel Council Chairman K Neibou Sekhose.

As per the release, the Council proposed the ‘ambitious project’ in 2017 under the theme "Give Back to Society" through people's contribution to commemorate Platinum Jubilee by 2021 with a total project cost is Rs 1.55 crore. However due to COVID-19 Pandemic, the project has been delayed. 

Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor, School Education & SCERT has consented to inaugurate this completed T Khel GMS building, it added.  

The school was started by few visionary educated persons in 1930 to impart education to the T Khel in particular and Kohima Village in general and was taken over by Government in February 1946, according to the Council. 

The school site was donated by Late Zelhoulie Sekhose, a man who dreamed of an educated generation and the first teaching staff were Late Lhoukuo Solo, Late Neisetso Suohu and Late Khrie-ü Sekhose, it informed.  

This school has produced many eminent personalities and leaders and celebrated its Golden Jubilee on 1996 as a primary school. 

In 2017, it was upgraded to GMS for all round development in the field of education including better infrastructure with additional class rooms and modern technology with innovations in imparting quality education such as Computers, Projectors, Wi-fi, Internet to impart digital literacy to be at par with other schools in the country, the Council added.
